Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand?

At the last monthly prayer meeting we were reminded of Isaiah 40 v 12.

Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand and marked off the heavens with a span.

As you read these words look at your hand. The vastness of space (the heavens) is at least 93 billion light years from one side to the other or, according to Isaiah, the tip of God's thumb to the tip of his little finger. How great and awesome is our God.

This is our God. This is our Father. This is the one who asks us to bring petitions before him.  It brings pleasure to the Father that we pray. He doesn't need our prayers to do anything yet he chooses to work by answering our prayers. It is staggering.

Each month we gather together to enjoy a corporate time of prayer.

As we gather on Monday 9 June for our prayer meeting, included in our time together we'll:
  • Give thanks for those who have recently come to know Jesus as their Lord and Saviour, particularly so many young people from church families;
  • Pray for children and young people in the church, for their parents and for those working in children's, teens and young people's ministries.  Pray for those taking exams and considering what's next;
  • As it's reported that people in society are wondering about spiritual reality, pray that God will use us as individuals and a church to reach those in our city who are searching for truth;
  • Pray for the Sunday evening Foundation class and the forthcoming Doctrine classes. As Lewis said last Sunday, pray that God will use these to equip and encourage leaders of the future.
And of course we'll pray through any requests for prayer we receive.

If you're able to join us next Monday, we meet at Brickworks at 8 pm.
