The Lock-in
An all nighter at Christchurch? This can only mean one thing - it’s the teens event of the year - the Lock-In! Workers and teens have only just caught up on sleep but it was absolutely worth it.
In a world full of screens and distractions, the teens had an opportunity to spend the whole night together - an evening full of fun, building friendships and creating life long memories, with the possibility of staying up ALL night.
Who would rise to the challenge?
The teens were outwardly confident that they would all be awake to the end, whilst some leaders were more sure than others of competing with the teens and going toe to toe until sunrise!
The evening got off to a flying start with a variety of games and activities.
Some of the girls got their nails done at the Teens Salon and despite multiple offers, the boys declined getting theirs done too in favour of playing some football!
As the evening continued, table tennis and badminton tournaments were in full swing (pun intended!!) and were played to a near-Olympic level and the energy levels were running high.
As midnight passed, a well-needed energy boost in the form of The Voice - Christchurch began. An eclectic mix of classics such as Oasis and Disney songs were belted out. It’s a wonder no windows were shattered due to the incredible notes being hit.
After a hot chocolate break, a suggestion of the game ‘Gruff’ was suggested. This game has legendary status in Teens Lock-In folklore!!………the lights went off and the hunt began!
As the birds began to wake up and tweet, some of the teens found their eyes getting too heavy to keep open and succumbed to the land of nod. An admirable amount of teens (and surprisingly workers!) managed to last the whole night.
As the morning came, the teens were awoken (or not) by the smell of freshly baked pastries.
Bleary-eyed teens were picked up by well-rested parents and the lock in came to an end.
What an amazing night together of bonding and fun.
If you were there, we loved spending quality time with you, getting to know you better and sharing unforgettable fun and memories.
If not, join us at the next teens- we would love to hang out and build relationships that help us to share our love for God more and encourage you in this.
Looking forward to seeing you next year!
