Introducing Joy Scott

We have the privilege of continuing to partner with Joy Scott, a member of the church back when it was part of All Nations, as she works to bring the gospel to a province in Cambodia. Joy is one of the partners we are supporting via our mission fund.

Here's her story:

  • In 1991, a small YWAM (Youth With A Mission) team of 5 were asked by the Cambodian Health Ministry to go to the NE province of Cambodia to do relief, health and development work. At that time there were no Christians in Stung Treng province and Joy joined the team 1 Sept 1993. Their desire as they went out was to see a church/group of believers in every one of the 145 villages in the province. Through God’s mercy and kindness, over the last 33 years they have seen 54 of the villages form groups of        believers.
  • Although Joy is a nurse and midwife, a lot of her work now involves coordinating the health and development work of YWAM, as well as working with the church leaders, the worship team and youth group in the mother church in Stung Treng town with midweek visits to 2 villages.
  • The YWAM team has 12 different programmes and continues to offer a lot of practical aid such as provision of water filters, which bring high levels of manganese in well water down to safe levels and rain water tanks to supply drinking water. English, music, computer classes  are taught at the church youth centre. We train and run literacy classes for the Kavet tribe and refer an increasing number of poor patients to get better hospital treatment in the capital of Phnom Penh. We run a 2yr Bible study school and a short term discipleship training schools as well as discipling believers in outlying villages.
