A wonderful weekend
Haven’t the last 3 weeks been wonderful?!
Beginning on September 28th, we’ve celebrated such grace to us as a church; (as he retired) Pete charging us to continue to lay a gospel foundation, taking in 28 new member, baptising 4 people into Christ, and then celebrating our 30th anniversary with such joy last weekend.
God has been truly good to us. And we look to him as we go onward. He has promised to be with us and build his church; let’s take him at his word and press on. 30 years, + 3 days… let’s go!
Below are some photos and a transcript of the prayer Roo prayed for children and young people. If you find yourself wanting to pray for the future, let these words inspire you.
Father God,
How wonderful to look around this room and be surrounded by children and young people brought and born into Christchurch. Thank you for your goodness to us. Thank you for your faithfulness to us. 30 years on, and the church is growing and full of young people. We praise you this morning, Lord.
We want to pray for the hearts and souls of these children and young people. We pray that the truth of your glorious gospel becomes personal for them. Transform their lives through your grace. Instil in them a love for your gospel. May the person and work of Jesus Christ be a bedrock for them throughout their lives. We pray, 30 years on from now they will be the ones giving thanks for your faithfulness to them and your church.
Give these children and young people a heart and joy in serving their local church. We pray that you raise up leaders and elders from among these young people. We pray for all of their gifting, use these children’s unique and wonderful gifts to bring glory to you and build your church. May both girls and boys grow up knowing and being equipped by the living word of God; discerning the difference between right and wrong and what’s true and what’s false in our world. Help them to build their lives on what is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable 2!; praiseworthy.
Raise up Bible loving, truth seeking, faithful Christians, who gladly sacrifice and lay their lives down for the greater call of Christ’s glory and fame we pray.
Equip and enable us, as parents and a wider church family, to faithfully steward and share the truths of your Gospel with these children and young people. Help us and use us Lord, for your glory.
The apostle Paul encourages us in the Galatians and says ‘I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.’ May this be the prayer and proclamation of these children and young people we pray.
Amen.
